Our big goal.

The transition of 1 million hectares to a Wilderculture approach – it costs approximately £10,000 per farm to train, support and monitor the transition to Wilderculture.

On each farm that transitions to a Wilderculture Approach, we can;

  • Regenerate soil to restore fertility and remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
  • Restore site-appropriate biodiversity.
  • Re-hydrate the landscape and restore biome-adapted natural climate cooling mechanisms.
  • Create profitable farms and estates that celebrate their cultural heritage.
  • Grow healthy, nutrient-dense food.
  • Create complex and dynamic wilder landscapes for people to experience and enjoy.

Currently, farms and estates have to cover some of the costs of transitioning their land to a Wilderculture Approach. Some landowners see the potential value of adopting the approach and the potential for a more profitable and resilient enterprise so can justify the cost and have the means to pay.

Other landowners, however, are not in a financial position to invest in proactive training and development and are trapped in a loop of working too hard at ‘business as usual’ to be able to carve out the time and cover the cost of a transition.

If we are to see a transition to a Wilderculture Approach across a million Hectares, we will need to subsidise the landowners who genuinely need financial support. We will do this through an application for a bursary process in which landowners can make a case for support.

Your support will help us subsidise the cost of all Wilderculture Approach transitions and help to fund our bursary awards.

In phase 1, we are aiming to transition 250 000 Hectares of land using our Wilderculture Approach transition model. After phase 1, we will review our transition methodology based on the learnings of this process.

If you donate to this cause, we will invite you to visit one of our Wilderculture projects on a supporter’s open day, where you can meet the team, explore the landscape and enjoy homemade refreshments.

We will create a profile report on every new project that goes through transition and update the information annually so donors can see where their money is being spent. We will hold supporter days on key projects for funders to see what their contribution has helped to achieve.

If you would like to make a large donation to sponsor a farm transition or represent a company that would like to explore corporate sponsorship, please contact Caroline at info@wilderculture.com, as we have a range of options available.

We are very grateful for any contribution towards this important campaign.
